Everything parents need to know

Our FAQ is designed to help you understand how Globe Schooler works, what your child needs to start learning online, and how we support each student throughout the school year.

💻 How do online classes work?

To study with Globe Schooler, your child will need a stable internet connection, a headset, and a quiet space where they can focus comfortably.

Our online classes are designed to be interactive and dynamic. Students can speak with their teacher, write on a shared whiteboard, take part in activities, and interact with their classmates in a structured virtual classroom.

🌍 Why choose an online school?

Online learning gives families the flexibility to access a structured education wherever they are in the world, while keeping a clear academic routine for their child.

With Globe Schooler, there is no need to travel to a physical school. Your child follows the British curriculum online, in a safe and organised learning environment, with experienced teachers and regular academic support.

This format is particularly suitable for international families, expatriates, travelling families, or parents looking for a clear and flexible educational solution.

📈 How is student progress assessed?

Student progress is monitored throughout the year through regular assessments, class participation, assignments, and internal evaluations.

These assessments help our teachers identify each child’s strengths, areas for improvement, and learning progress in line with the Cambridge curriculum standards.

At the end of each term, parents receive a detailed school report with clear feedback on their child’s progress in each subject. Parent-teacher meetings may also be organised to discuss results, objectives, and next steps.

🧑‍🏫 How are classes organised?

Lessons are delivered live through a dedicated online platform. Students are asked to connect a few minutes before the start of each class, according to their timetable.

During lessons, students can communicate with the teacher, use the microphone, take part in discussions, complete interactive tasks, and follow the lesson through screen sharing, video, chat, and digital learning tools.

Classes are structured to remain engaging and age-appropriate, with short breaks when needed so that students can stay focused and comfortable.

📝 Do students get homework?

Yes. Outside live lessons, students may be given homework or independent tasks to reinforce what they have learned in class.

Homework allows teachers to check understanding, support progress, and help students develop good study habits. Assignments are usually submitted through a dedicated online platform.

🎥 What happens if a student misses a lesson?

If your child misses a lesson, they will have access to the lesson report on the platform.

This report allows the student to see what was covered during the lesson, catch up on the key points, and prepare for future activities or assessments. If needed, students may also contact their teacher through the dedicated communication channel to ask questions about the lesson.

🕘 What are the school hours?

Our timetable is generally organised around the French time zone, Paris time. Classes may take place in the morning, usually between 9:00 and 12:00, or in the afternoon depending on the class level and schedule.

Families living outside France should take the time difference into account to ensure that their child can attend live lessons comfortably.

We aim to provide a clear and regular timetable while keeping a degree of flexibility for international families and different learning needs.

📄 Is a school certificate provided?

Yes. Globe Schooler can provide school attendance certificates confirming that your child is enrolled and following our online programme.

🎓 Can my child take Cambridge exams?

Yes. Our programme follows the Cambridge curriculum standards and helps prepare students for Cambridge assessments and other international qualifications.

Students may sit official Cambridge exams as private candidates in approved Cambridge exam centres, available in many countries.

When your child is ready, we can guide you through the process and provide the necessary information to help you register for official exam sessions.

Internal assessments and mock exams are also organised throughout the year to help students prepare in the best possible conditions.

📚 Which exams can my child take?

Depending on their age and academic level, students may prepare for several Cambridge qualifications, including:

  • Primary Checkpoint — usually at the end of Year 6
  • Lower Secondary Checkpoint — usually at the end of Year 9
  • IGCSE — usually at the end of Year 11
  • A Levels — usually at the end of Year 13

Cambridge English exams, such as Starters, Movers, KET, and other levels, may also be taken depending on the student’s age and English proficiency.

Registrations are usually completed as a private candidate through an approved Cambridge examination centre.

🏛️ What are IGCSEs and A Levels?

IGCSE, International General Certificate of Secondary Education, is an internationally recognised qualification usually taken at the end of Year 11, around age 16.

Students are assessed in different subjects such as English, mathematics, science, economics, and other selected subjects. It is widely recognised by schools and institutions around the world.

A Levels, Advanced Levels, are advanced qualifications usually taken at the end of Year 13, around age 18. Students generally choose three or four subjects to study in depth.

A Levels are recognised internationally and are commonly used for university admission in the United Kingdom and many other countries.
